Join the worlds greatest party with Mardi Costumes

When the words Mardi Gras is spoken, you cannot help but think of unbridled excitement, unsurpassed fun and unbeatable street partying like the world has never known before.  And it happens every year so it is a surprise that the people, guests and visitors to New Orleans can sustain all of these fun activities without going into overdrive.  And the Mardi costumes are simply spectacular with their abundant furs and feathers and scant fabrics!

Mardi Gras, of course, is one of the most famous Carnival celebrations, with many saying that it comes in a very close second to the Rio De Janeiro Carnival season.  The Carnival officially starts after the Twelfth Night or on the Epiphany on January 6 and ends on the Mardi Gras itself.  Although it has its origins in Roman Catholic traditions, the Mardi Gras has become part and parcel of the pop culture of New Orleans.

Indeed, the population of the city more than doubles in size two Fridays before the Mardi Gras itself.  The adage about not being able to drop a pin with so many people around on the day of the grand parade itself is true that your Mardi Gras costumes better survive the onslaught of such revelry.

You can either purchase your costumes from stores and online sites or you can make your own.  The choice depends on your available budget and time as well as your talents for sewing and putting together clothes.

If you choose to purchase your costumes, you should browse through the selections of the sites.  You just cannot settle for a costume just because it looks nice the first time you laid eyes on it.  You have to consider if you will feel comfortable in it, comfort being the most important element of your choice especially if you have to party in it for hours at a time.

Men and women have many choices in their Mardi Gras costumes.  You can opt to go in costumes inspired by a certain notable period or a certain famous personality such as Marie Antoinette.  Or you can go as one of the court personalities like the jester and the clown.  Or as a can-can girl.  Or you may dress up as a pirate and his pirate wench. Indeed, you can treat the Mardi Gras as one big Halloween party where fun is the main theme instead of scary.

You can also go in your everyday clothes with a little twist if you are not one for elaborate costumes or if you do not see yourself riding on the parade floats.  Just make sure that you are wearing the colors of the Mardi Gras holiday, which are green, gold and purple.  Maybe you can add in an elaborate mask to offset your somewhat plain Mardi Gras outfit. After all, this holiday is about mystery and it never did hurt anybody to adopt a little mystique for themselves on this crazy, fun holiday.

Mardi costumes can be as crazy, as colorful, as complex as you want them to be.  This is, after all, the season of madness where fun and crazy merge to form the most raucous festival on Earth. And so, this February, get your party on and join the Mardi Gras!
